ANTIDEPRESSANT ACTIVITY TEST OF WATER FRACTION AND ETHYL ACETATE FRACTION FROM ETHANOL EXTRACT 70% HERB BANDOTAN (Ageratum ConyzoideS (L.) L.) IN MALE WHITE RATS USING FORCED SWIM TEST METHOD

Abstract


Bandotan herb (Ageratum conyzoides (L.) L.) contains secondary metabolites that are efficacious as antidepressants. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antidepressant activity of the water fraction and ethyl acetate fraction from 70% ethanol extract of bandotan herbs using forced swim test method. With the bandotan herbaceous water fraction test dose group (32.28 mg / kgBW, 66.57 mg / kgBW, and 133.14 mg / kgBW), the test dose of ethyl acetate fraction (12.16 mg / kgBW, 25.92 mg / kg kgBB and 51.84 mg / kgBB), and compared with the positive control group using Kalxetin® (2.0555 mg / kgBB) and the negative control group given Na-CMC. Each group consisted of 5 male white rats. Retrieval of data decreased immobility time carried out on days 1, 7, and 14 during treatment. One-way ANOVA statistical test results showed a p value <0.05 in each fraction. In the tukey test the water fraction showed that on the 7th day the dose 133.14 mg / kgBB had an activity comparable to a positive control, with a reduction in immobility time percentage of 39.544%. Ethyl acetate fraction had activity which was comparable to positive control on day 7 at a dose of 51.84 mg / kgBB with a reduction in immobility time percentage of 39.63%.
